Need A Fresh Start

By kaiart - on Apr 29, 2011... modified on Apr 29, 2011
Posted in How are you today?

I am a single woman in my mid twenties living in East Charlotte, NC. 7 months ago I terminated from my job due to Medical reasons and still fighting for unemployment benefits, but I need to find assistance in paying my bills, primarily my rent. I just received a notice today stating that I owe $1200.00 by Saturday 4-30-2011 to prevent padlocking of my apartment.   $4000 would be enough to cover this and all of my bills I have tried all of the other lenders but my credit was not acceptable.  Or if that does not work I can use a room to rent I do have enough money for that. I was in the process of being a customer service rep job from home, but a death in the family prevented that from taking place and they would not allow me to finish training. Yes, I am asking you for a loan. I am not giving up here because my dream has always been to acheive success from home while trying to help others do the same. i just need a second chance for me to get my life back on track. Any information on how I can qualify for your loan as I will pay it back, though upfront fees would be an issue, would be much appreciated.  I accept any other suggestions as well.  I look forward to communicating with all of you soon.

Thanks for your time and God Bless

Utah- Emergency Assistance Homeless Prevention

By Starshine - on Aug 7, 2010
Posted in Starshine

 General Information

See Most Recent Obsolete Policy
Policy Effective Date: January 1, 2008

Emergency Assistance - Homeless Prevention Program (EA) provides immediate short term help for destitute families to remedy or prevent homelessness.

Tip/Hint/Instruction

Services provided include:

Rent, deposits, mortgage, utility payments

Referral to legal services to avoid eviction

Counseling in basic planning and family budgeting

Advocacy referral needed to resolve problems with landlords and mortgage companies

Payments provided will not exceed:

$450 per family for one month’s rent

$700 per family for one month’s mortgage payment

$300 per family for utility programs

The family must meet ALL eight of the following program eligibility requirements to be eligible:

   1.

The family must be homeless, facing eviction, foreclosure, utility shutoff, or in need of utilities, because of past due payments that resulted from a crisis beyond the control of the family.
          *

A written statement from the landlord that the household is in danger of eviction, or that eviction procedures are expected to begin, can be accepted as evidence the household is facing eviction. The statement must be signed and dated by the landlord and must contain enough information to determine if an issuance of emergency assistance will prevent eviction.
   2.

The family must be able to secure housing, utilities, or be able to prevent the eviction, foreclosure, or utility shutoff, with a one time rent, deposit, mortgage, or utility payment.
   3.

The family must demonstrate how it will resolve past due payments and pay future months' rent, mortgage, or utility payments after resolution of the crisis.
   4.

The family must have exhausted all other resources first.
          *

The family is not required to provide written verification that other resources have been exhausted unless there is reason to question the customer statement or there is a question regarding a specific resource.
   5.

The value of the household's assets cannot exceed $2000.00.  Countable assets are those immediately available to the family members.
   6.

The gross income available to the household cannot exceed 185% of the Standard Needs Budget (SNB), based on the household's size. See Table 1 for income amounts that are 185% of the SNB.
   7.

This is a time limited program.  See section 285.
   8.

The household must have an eligible dependent child.  See section 228 for information on household composition for EA.

SanDiego County Section 8 Rental Assistance Program

To access some of the following information below.

 Section 8 Rental Assistance Programs

Get e-mail updates when information about our Section 8 Program is updated.

Current Section 8 participants -- the Winter 2009 Newsletter is available along with other important information and forms.

The Housing Authority of the County of San Diego has programs for low-income households to help them pay their rent. A portion of the rent is paid on behalf of the families directly to their landlords. You may view listings for available units by bedroom size. These listings are provided by landlords willing to participate in the rental assistance programs. Be aware that families are not restricted to the units on this list. You may also look for units on your own.  If you are looking for a unit to accommodate the needs of a person with disabilities, the Housing Authority is committed to provide services and resources to help you.  The  National Accessible Housing Clearing House and ForRent.com have information on accessible units.  The Housing Authority is neither affiliated with, nor endorses the National Accessible Housing Clearing House or ForRent.com.

In order to qualify for the programs, you must live in certain areas of the county, and you must place your name on our waiting list. The wait may be 5-8 years, or more depending on our funding levels. Unfortunately, we don't have emergency assistance available. These programs are:

HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM - Eligible families selected off our waiting list can choose a unit in any area we serve that an owner is willing to join the program. They must pay at least 30% of their adjusted monthly income for rent and utilities. We will pay the rest to the landlord, as long as the total rent and utilities are at, or below a certain standard, called a payment standard. If the rent is too high, the unit may not be eligible for assistance.  Click here to see a more in depth description of the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Eligible Households  -- Highest priority goes to:

Applicants who live or work in the jurisdiction of the Housing Authority of the County of San Diego and are at least one of the following:

    * Families with dependent children.
    * Working Applicants- (Must have worked at least 32 + hours per week for the previous six months. Applicants may combine job training or an academic program as part of the previous 12-month requirement. Applicants receiving Unemployment, Disability, or Workman's Compensation Benefits will be considered qualifying under the preference if those benefits were the result 12 continuous months of employment at 32 + hours per week up to the start of the above referenced benefits.)
    * Elderly families (head of household or spouse is 62 years of age or older).
    * Disabled families (head of household or spouse is disabled).
    * Veterans or surviving spouses of veterans (other than dishonorable discharge)

Eligible Units - The unit the family selects must meet certain standards. We will inspect the unit before any assistance is paid, and at least once a year, as long as assistance is being paid. The unit must always be in decent, safe, and sanitary condition. The unit checklist is available in our library.

Program Rules - The rights and responsibilities for participants of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher can be found in the Family Handbook.

MODERATE REHABILITATION PROGRAM - This program offers privately owned rental units in East County for low-income families.  There are approximately 135 of these units.  If a unit becomes available, applicants are selected off our waiting list and referred to the landlord for screening and selection.  If the landlord determines a family suitable, we will then determine if the family is eligible for participation in the program.  Finally, the eligible family moves into the unit and pays a portion of the rent based on income, while we pay the remainder of the rent.  The family's eligibility for continued participation is reviewed annually.

You may be eligible for the above programs if:

Geography
You must live or work in an unincorporated area of San Diego County, or in Chula Vista, Coronado, Del Mar, El Cajon, Escondido, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Poway, San Marcos, Santee, Solana Beach, or Vista.

If you live outside of these areas, there are 5 other Housing Authorities in San Diego County.  Contact the one for the city you live in.

Help with Rent-England

Help with your rent

Need help with your rent or mortgage payments? Fear not: here are a few ways of securing financial help.

Social fund - help with rent in advance

The social fund is a system by which people on low incomes may receive payments and discretionary grants or loans for needs that cannot be met from their regular income. Payments are made by Jobcentre Plus. If you are leaving residential or institutional accommodation, need help to stay in your own home, have had an unsettled way of life, or are facing exceptional pressure, you may be able to get a Community Care Grant. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Caringforsomeone/DG_10018921

Social fund payments are often very hard to get but it is still important to apply. If you are turned down you have a right to a review where the decision may be overturned. You may receive a budgeting or crisis loan instead of a grant. Remember that if you are offered a loan you will have to repay it from your weekly benefit.

Contact an advice agency for help with claiming a grant or appealing against a decision. For further advice contact your local Citizens Advice or housing advice centre.

Housing benefit

Housing benefit is money which enables people on low incomes to pay their rent. You can claim housing benefit if you are 16 or over and whether or not you are working or claiming income support. It is not available to full-time students, unless they have children or a disability.

To get housing benefit you need to fill in an application form which you can get from your local council. The council has a duty to make a payment of housing benefit within 14 days provided they have received all the information and paperwork requested. They will need to see proof of all your income and savings as well as a copy of your tenancy agreement.

Your age, the number of people in your household, the rent you pay and your income, will also affect the amount of housing benefit you will receive. It will not cover charges in your rent for water rates, heating or hot water.

If the rent you pay is high, then the housing benefit section of the council may restrict the amount of money you receive. Always ask the council to assess the maximum rent they will cover for a property (called eligible rent) in advance of signing an agreement. If your housing benefit does not cover your rent, get advice.

I ask god, that there is someone that can help!!! I will repay in any way I can

HI, I have went thru a tramatic couple of years, loads of surgeries alone. I have been diagnosed with sarcodosis...I have had phenomia(not spelling correct) breathing problems for over a month. I lost work due to this. My ex also decided not to pay child support on time, so we will get evicted..then he will get custody and never have to pay support. This is the same man whom left the kids in there room, lock in the house by them self..and the courts tell me its he said/she said no proof. I swear on my life, this man is about the money not his boys. He also calls child protective services on me, to trey to get a case on me. Its very sad, for my kids to go threw this. He has told me he has finally won  this time, cuz I got sick and im gonna get evicted due to being sick and not working to pay bills. and he didint pay support in the time frame to help. Yes this is what I deal with. Its very sad, and the boys love there father amd if they only knew. I hate to take that away from my boys and I have to bite my tongue over and over. I have a little over a week to come up with 925.00. Past due rent, I start working again soon, then it will be okay again. This is the second time in 6 months, I have been sick and have needed help. I hope to have good health for a very long time. I ask you and promise you and heavens above if someone can help I will repay my help back out into the world in any ways I can, THank you!!!!!

Hello, I have thought of a million idea's who,how and where I can get money from and it hasn't took me to far. To let everyone know right off, I have never had to ask for help, and im only asking now because it is that bad, I have too. Im a mom of two boy's 5 and 7. They are my world. We left there dad three yrs ago due to alot of  unpleasent days. Im sure alot of you know where Im coming from. Im a culprit of me being so nice to people and in the end I lose out. Im a full time student at Baker College in Auburn HIlls Mi. Trying to make life better, well in the timeof making things better,  it has only got really bad. I had a roomate living with me, and my rent money thru  May 1st, is missing. All the police can say is make a court date, Go to court, I cant prove it, so it has to be proved in Court. So I have an eviction for 1400hundred dollars to be paid. If  I dont get this money, my children and I are going to have no where to stay. My children under no circumstances can stay with there father, no way. Hey we talk, but its not possible. I dont want to end up in the system, if I can just get this taken care of, I knowI can make it work. I dont have the money, to be 2 months behind. It was greedly taken from us..please help..eviction leads to bad credit, no one will let you rent from them, it leads to a new world. please help if you can.. I thank you in advance and god bless you. I will return favors back into the world, when I can...

Low income, 100% disabled with medical problems even $ 1.00 will help

By Disabled-One - on Aug 8, 2006... modified on Aug 14, 2006

I am 53 years old, low income so even $ 1.00 dollar will be helpfull. I am a 100% disabled individual with major neck problems that are causing me to lose the use of both my arms. I have already lost 60% use of my left arm and without another surgery I will lose my right. My only income is from SS disability so again, any money you can donate will help. I am having trouble paying my rent and utility bills and could use some additional help. The next operation will have me laid up for months and I do not want to even think about having to move at this time. I never in my life thought it would get to the point where I have to ask for help, as I was the one that helped others. Any donations would be greatly appreciated
